Virginia Children’s Theatre is a year-round, award-winning professional theatre located in Roanoke, VA. VCT produces broadway style musicals, issue driven plays, Jr. productions and live concerts. VCT runs year-round, high-quality music, theatre and dance instruction for students Pre-K through 12th grade through an in-house theatre academy and outreach programming throughout the commonwealth of VA.

Job Description

• Oversee, organize, develop and lead all year-round VCT Outreach programming

1. After-school theatre programs

2. In-school SOL (VA Standards of Learning) interactive theatre based residencies

3. Year-round Club K in-school programming (Interactive theatre workshops for students with special needs).

4. Week long, half day outreach summer camp offerings

5. General Theatre Workshops (Introducing Body, Voice and Expression)

6. Additional school and private organization partnerships (Ex.- Boys & Girls Club of SWV)

• Oversee, mentor and hire all VCT outreach teaching artists

• Collaborate with all VCT teaching artists, Theatre Academy Manager, Producing Artistic Director and VCT staff and contractors.

• Maintain all current outreach partnerships

• Develop new programs and partnerships throughout the commonwealth of Virginia.

• Teach in-house academy classes as your schedule allows (under the direction of the Theatre Academy Manager).

• Alongside the Director of Marketing, find creative ways to promote VCT education outreach.

• Serve on the creative team of the annual KIDS ON STAGE (Jr., all youth) production each spring.

• Assist with professional mainstage productions as your schedule allows.

• Work within a vibrant company alongside our full time staff at Virginia Children's Theatre to inspire, empower and transform our youth, schools and families.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in music, theatre, dance or related field. Must have experience being a Director, Choreographer or Music Director.

Benefits/ Salary: 5 Paid Vacation/ Sick Days, Holiday PTO, 1 full week for Christmas and 1 full week in August (end of season PTO). $30,000/ yr. Housing available at lower salary.
