DESCRIPTION
Scenic Carpenter
Ghostlight Theater Camp is founded on the core values of joy, creativity, gratitude and community. We operate two 3-week sessions each summer with all of our design staff and many of campers participating in both sessions. In addition to these sessions, staff participate in staff training and development prior to the campers’ arrivals.
As Scenic Carpenter you will join a group of enthusiastic artistic staff, leadership staff, and counseling staff in providing a summer of life-changing theater-making that will send our campers home more independent, confident, and self-expressive. Designers live and work at Ghostlight Theater Camp’s beautiful campus situated in the Belgrade Lake Region of Maine and are provided with meals and housing, along with the most beautiful sunsets you are likely to see.
Essential Job Functions
• Work with technical director and design staff to implement and build the
designs for each show.
• Ensure campers and staff follow safety procedures in all program areas.
• Oversee daily checks of area and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and
good repair.
• Ensure that program areas are kept free of hazards and debris.
• Assist in purchasing construction materials for scenic and props designs for up to 6 shows a session.
• Assist in constructing all scenic and properties for up to 6 shows a session.
• Attend Creative Staff Orientation and Full Staff Orientation prior to the arrival of campers.
• Attend daily staff meetings at camp.
• Open and maintain clear verbal communication with leadership and the camp owners. (We are a community that believes in asking for help.)
Experience
• Education: Equivalent Experience in Construction or Design
• Professional or Collegiate Level Scenic or Other Construction: 1+ years
(Required)
• Teaching Experience with Ages 9-17: 1+ years (Preferred)
Compensation
• Salary - $500/week
• Room and Board, including 3 meals a day
• Travel Reimbursement for out-of-state applicants
